Stic y M1, los integrantes de Dead Prez, quienes se ven a ellos mismos como luchadores por la libertad del Hip Hop siguiendo los pasos de los Black Panthers, siempre avanzando en esta inevitable lucha.Dead Prez ataca agresiva y articuladamente a las fuerzas que contribuyen a la desigualdad en la sociedad moderna . Mientras actualmente hay grupos y Discos de Hip Hop que solamente son motivados por lo politico, no puedo creer que ahora haya otro acto en el juego del Hip Hop que este bastante fuera de lo Afrocentrico. Dead Prez se ven a si mismos como africanos abandonados en una tierra a la que no pertenecen, viviendo en una sociedad completamente desigual donde la mayoria siempre esta contra ellos. Let’s Get Free recuerda al dia cuando los grupos Afrocentricos como el X-Clan, Poor Righteous Teachers, y Brand Nubian no solo existian, sino que eran exitosos. Esto es un alivio para aquellos que extrañan ese lado del Hip Hop, quienes entiendan a Dead Prez y a su Disco de Hip Hop Let’s Get Free concordaran que el capitalismo esta invadiendo la musica su mayoria. Una diferencia clave entre Dead Prez y los grupos Afrocentricos del pasado es que tienen metas y planes mas concretos; ellos estan hablandole a las comunidades de los suburbios y a los trabajadores. Dead Prez tambien le da su mensaje a una profunda capa que se enfoca en las raices economicas de la injusticia en vez de solo quejarse de sus problemas superficiales.
